Montana to Kharkiv: nearly 200 solar panels

A multi-party effort moved approximately four metric tons of donated solar equipment from the United States to Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute in Ukraine.

Project objective

Deliver donated solar equipment to Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute

The project delivered 170 large solar panels and 25 smaller panels to the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute.” The equipment is intended to support the university’s energy infrastructure and educational work.

The freight began in Montana and required domestic collection, preparation for international transportation, container shipment to Europe, and onward movement to Kharkiv.

Origin and loading challenge

This was donated equipment rather than cargo moving through a routine commercial shipping process. The panels had to be received, packed, and prepared for a long multi-stage journey involving volunteers, nonprofit participants, transportation providers, and the receiving university.

High-level transportation sequence

    Montana collection

    Donated panels were collected after being removed from their prior installation.

  2. 02

    Preparation in the United States

    The equipment was received and prepared for safe international transportation.

  3. 03

    Container shipment to Europe

    The panels crossed the Atlantic in a shipping container before the inland European handoff.

  4. 04

    Onward movement to Kharkiv

    The project continued through Europe and Ukraine to the university in Kharkiv.

Our role

We coordinated receipt, packing, transportation, and container shipments for the panels. That meant keeping the domestic origin, preparation work, international transportation, and broader volunteer effort connected.

Outcome

Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute reported that the complete shipment reached the university. The solar panels will support energy resilience and serve as training equipment for students and veterans.
